Happy Thanksgiving Father! =)

This year, my daddy will be celebrating Thanksgiving from his lovely hospital bed! My mom and I will be spending the entire holiday with him, and my family wanted to do something special.

Please post a THANKSGIVING greeting to my dad! You can tell him anything you want. Whether it's why you're thankful for him, that you're praying for him, an iside joke, that you love him, or whatever you come up with on your own.
I am going to read all the posts to him sometime on Thanksgiving day! I know it will blow him away!
We are so grateful to all of you who have been praying for my dad! We are all humbled and overwhelmed by God's faithfulness to us through you.
Today we are THANKFUL for our loving God and THANKFUL for you! For those of you who know my dad, as he would say, "Our hearts are full and overflowing..."

This Thanksgiving we're very thankful that you are alive and that God's hand has been on you all the way through this process. As we spend time with our family we'll be praying for you and your family. Thank you for the example you have been to me the last 15+ years.

Glen,

Please know you are in our prayers. Thanks to Joy and Michelle for keeping us up to date. For the life of me, however, someplace along the way someone could make a lot of money be designing a zipper for guyes like you so that re-entry would not be as difficult as coming back to earth after a moon walk. You are a good friend, Glen, and we look forward to your WOL FL visit every year. We will be praying that like the Phillies (it's a shame Tim Worrell isn't there anymore) you'll soon be up and around like the champion you (and they) are. Chuck and Joanna

Glenn, Jane and the rest of the fam -

On behalf of the Walker clan, we wish you a very blessed & Happy Thanksgiving. I feel so bad that you are in the hospital over the holiday. Honestly, I wish that you hadn't had to go thru it again. You guys are dear, dear friends and we love all of you very much. But, the truth of it is that God's hand is on your life in a remarkable way. You have been richly blessed of the Lord to do exactly what He has called you to do. You all have impacted so many, many lives over the years. I know people all around the world who have been touched by your lives and your ministry. This is incredibly hard for you all to go through and yet we know that you are so thankful to the Lord for all He has done for you, your family, and through your ministry.

And if nothing else - watch the Detroit Lions today and be thankful that the Eagles aren't as bad as they are!

We love you. Call me if you need anything!!!

So many over the years have overlooked 364 opportune days a year of thankfulness - but at least on one day of the year more americans are thankful than usual. Your family is an example of constant thankfulness and rejoicing in what the Lord is doing. I am working In the "wrong" department at BBC to get to know you very closely - but watching from a distance I appreciate and am encouraged by your heart of service for God, your family, and students. Praise God that He has completed much more work in our hearts than any doctor ever could do with tools and technology- He has taken our hearts of stone and made them soft and tender in His hands! Rejoicing with you as God continues to be your source of strength and joy this Thanksgiving and the other 364 days of Thanksgiving coming up!

Hello Uncle Glenn (and everyone else),

Just want to say HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! Some of my best thanksgiving days were spent with you guys! I miss you!! It meant so much that you would let me crash at your house when I was a BBC student. I always felt at home at your place! I am still praying for your speedy recovery, and that you will be pain free as soon as God sees fit.

I was reading Psalm 73 last night and verse 26 jumped out and made me think of you Uncle Glenn. "My flesh and my heart faileth: BUT GOD IS THE STRENGTH OF MY HEART, and my portion forever." I know those verses ring true in your life because I have seen it up close and personal! I am thankful for your Godly example!!

Dear Pastor Glenn,
Yes! We still think of you as a pastor from when you were here at Bible Baptist. Happy Thanksgiving and many blessings to you and your family. We are so greatful to God that He answered our prayers and saw you through the surgery. We are still praying for your speedy and complete recovery. It was amazing how many people in my E-Mail prayer group were really concerned about you, most of them had only met you when you came to speak at our unity banquet.

May God continue to bless you and we love you,

Glenn,

You already fixed the Phillies from Clarks Summit. That was the easy part.

Now, I need you to fix the Eagles from the hospital. You may see some familiar faces in your unit -- Donovan, Andy, Marty. While they may be getting a heart valve, too, they could use some other help. Perhaps the installation of a running game in their playbook. Or a new ready-aim-fire system for the quarterback. Anything you can do.

Then, we'll welcome you back to BBC. And S.

Take care.

I am thankful for the example that you have been to your family and the evidence of that from anyone that has met Jane, Luke&Trish, Abs, or John.

I can't imagine it, but I rejoice in each little step of progress you make... in your "walks" and your first "coke"... keep fighting! you have an amazing immediate and extended family who love you! And what a beautiful thing to see the body of Christ surround you with their love and prayers too--from all across the globe! Lots of Love to you and the whole fam from NC!!

Here we are today...and you're still that same joyful, God honoring man who fights through and beats everything. You're not only someone whom I respect, you're honestly someone who inspires me. I don't know if I know any other men in life as great as you. So, I'll continue praying, and over thanksgiving meal is we're discussing things we're thankful for, I'll without a doubt be mentioning you. Can't wait to see you, and laugh with you again soon!

Reverend Doctor Amos: In honor of your first Thanksgiving in the new land of a hospital, I quote the great revivalist Linus:

In the year 1621, the Pilgrims held their first Thanksgiving feast. They invited the great Indian chief Massasoit, who brought ninety of his brave Indians and a great abundance of food. Governor William Bradford and Captain Miles Standish were honored guests.

Elder William Brewster, who was a minister, said a prayer that went something like this:

'We thank God for our homes and our food and our safety in a new land. We thank God for the opportunity to create a new world for freedom and justice.' Amen.

Happy Thanksgiving, Glenn. You've clearly made many people thankful - 60, at least. Be blessed by the fruit of your life.

Hello Mr. & Mrs. Amos & Abby! Hearing that you guys are going to be in the hospital during Thanksgiving brings me back to last Thanksgiving as I was sitting in the hospital with my dad. I am so sorry to hear that you have to celebrate this special day in a small, stale, probably poorly decorated little room:) But what a better way to be reminded of all we have to be thankful for. God's goodness is evident in your lives as he has brought you through another serious surgery. We are so thankful that you are doing better and pray you will be back in Clarks Summit soon! I hope as you sit in your hospital room "celebrating" Thanksgiving and reading through these posts together as a family that you will be encouraged and maybe down the road look back at this day with fond memories. A minister was asked to inform a man with a heart condition that he had just inherited a million dollars. Everyone was afraid the shock would give him a heart attack.

So the minister went to the man's house and said, "Glen, what would you do if you inherited a million dollars?"

And Glen said, "Well, pastor, I think I would give half of it to the church."

At which the pastor fell over dead.

Pretty weak joke huh? Happy Thanksgiving my man!

Glen,

I have been following Abbey's blog (thanks Abbey) and praying for you on a regular basis as well as when every email update comes through. I am so thankful on your behalf for the skilled MD's and surgeons who cared and are caring for you. I am more thankful for the Great Physician who is by your side and knows more than they do and cares for you more than they ever could. Our God is so great! I pray that even as you are in the hospital recovering, that your Thanksgiving with your family at your side will be blessed. Come back soon. - Howard Hicks

Happy Turkey Day and Howdy from Arkansas. Knowing the seriousness of what you've been through, it is so fantastic to have you all past the waiting, anxiety and most of the tough pain. Enjoy the yummy hospital food -- Tofu Turkey, Pureed Yamms, Giblet Jello, and Essense of Pecan Pie. Party well! Remember, no dancing or limbo contests -- yet! And, don't forget to guard the TV remote.

Seriously, I am so grateful to know that the Lord is with you all as you walk through this time. Even though prayer is such a simple act, the prayer covering has been a way so many of us could be with you, let you know we love you and tell you we care deeply. It has been such a faith building experience to read the updates and "participate" as part of the Amos crew. Abby - thanks so much for keeping us in the cyber-loop. Love you all. Glenn-

It's always amazing to me how God harnesses the seemingly insignificant things of life for his purposes. This afternoon, after giving my two wee lads (james and liam) lunch, I decided to check my facebook profile. I saw Abby's status message, and checked out her blog. I had no idea that you had surgery again, and I wanted to let you know that Kelly and I will be praying for you and Jane and your family. I always remember with thankfulness the two years we spent working together in Admissions. Your dedication and constant pursuit of excellence was contagious. If my simple words fail to encourage you adequately, just remember that our Phillies are World Series Champions!!! We'll just forget about those Eagles this season!

Thanks Abby for making this happen for all of us who love and admire your Dad.

Hello, Glenn!

I just wanted to let you know that we are praying for you out here in Ohio & Minnesota. I am so glad to hear of God's continued faithfulness on yourall's behalf and we're looking forward to more such updates in the future.

I am also glad for the opportunity to personally say thank you for the joy and enthusiasm of living life well for God that is your character. I have many great memories of seeing that on a daily basis during the three years in Admissions, not to mention some of your "quotes" I've still got in various quote collections. :) Your patience, encouragement and truth remain a model and a challenge for me to this day.

We hope you enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family! We will be praying for your body to heal and for you, Jane, your kids, your family, your doctors and all the people that you are connected with there that you will see God clearly and that you will show Him well.

Much love & many prayers,
Deborah, for all the Griffieths

Here are some great words of thanksgiving from a song we've been singing at church. May they bless you heart as you consider all God's goodness at this Thanksgiving season: "My heart is filled with thankfulness to Him who walks beside; / Who floods my weaknesses with strength and causes fears to fly. / Whose ev'ry promise is enough for ev'ry step I take. / Sustaining me with arms of love and crowning me with grace."

Hi Mr Amos,

Hope you don't mind me sending this message, we've not met (in fact I've only ever spoken to Abby a couple of times and I don't think she understood my accent on either occasion!). Anyway, my name's Craig, I'm Amanda Gaumer's boyfriend over in England - just wanted to let you know that after seeing Abby's posts I've been praying for you and your family ever since, and it's wonderful to see you making such progress. Happy thanksgiving, best wishes and prayers for the future from across the pond!

Happy Thanksgiving! We're glad to hear that you're recovering well. We appreciate all that you do for our ABF. We look forward to seeing you back in class again soon.

We read a joke about Thanksgiving, and it is just funny enough to bring a smile but nothing that will cause the pain of laughter.

If April showers bring May flowers, what do May flowers bring?

Pilgrims! :)

Keep reading Psalm 118 for encouragement. It has encouraged us since you taught our class about it.

Love and prayers,
Chris and Kara

Happy Thanksgiving, Glenn (and everyone else around him in what I'm sure is a now-cozy hospital room),

We're sure that despite the difficulty you've experienced this year with your health, you would still adamantly insist on the goodness of God in your life. That's what's so cool about being a Christian-- circumstances can't rob us of our joy.

We are praying for you many miles away in central Iowa. Rob and Kim Seyler

You getting better is the key to saving the Eagles season. McNabb is not going stop doing dumb things with the football until you are up and around so let that be an incentive to you! Seriously though, thanks for being such an awesome person and for having the strength and stamina to go through this surgery again (and again) and godspeed on your recovery. To God be the glory, great things he has done!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to the Amos Family from Iowa! Thinking of you brings back so many memories! We will never forget you guys and the way you made our Sarah feel so welcome in your home. You were like a second Mom and Dad to her! And, she couldn't have picked anyone better! Remember those tapes you used to put on my desk to transcribe after your long trips, Glen? You must have spent a lot of time driving and recording all of your thoughts! What a gift from God to have known you and Jane. Jan

Dear Glenn,

Happy Thanksgiving and praise the Lord that you are doing much better now. I hope the nurses are giving you lots of tender loving care and I just wonder how many of them you have accidently mooned by now. I'm sure it would have been the highlight of their day as I know it would have been mine. But you know how much we love all of you and will keep you in our hearts and prayers. We know that God gives us the strength to face even the most difficult circumstances in our lives and even when it hurts so much He gives us peace and always reminds us He is in control of our lives and loves us so much. Anyway I hope you all have a fantastic day together. Lots of love to all of you and a very gentle hug to you Glenn. Remember to eat plenty of prunes as straining is bad for the heart. Char. Happy Thanksgiving from the Czech Republic. We were sad to learn of your need to go through sugery again, and even more challenging for you and your family, the recovery. But we praise God for the progress up to this point, and will pray for God to give you strength, quick recovery, and patience, so that you can resume the ministry of influencing young people for serving God.

Becki does not know I'm writing this to you, but I'm sure she will soon...(we too get to spend this day in the hospital, as Silas needs to be monitored due to weight loss...too bad we're not all in the same hospital) I just want to thank you personally Glenn for what you have meant in our lives these past 6 years. Thank you for being more than "just a boss" to Becki. You have impacted both of our lives in great ways. I can't tell you how many times Becki has mentioned that you have been "kind of like a dad" to her. Thanks for all of your "fatherly" advice. I am grateful for the way in which God has used you and your family in our lives. Becki has certainly enjoyed her time working for you. (Though I think she said you did finally make her cry one day...ha ha).
While much more could be said, I just want you to know that I am thankful for you and what you mean to us. We praise God for your successful surgery; and we continue praying that our great Healer strengthens your body and numbs your pain. We love you and can't wait to see you.
Happy Thanksgiving,

Adam and Becki Scouten

Glenny,
Just want you know you are on my heart as you journey through this next season of life where God has you. I remember vividly when the journey began...it's incredible to see God give you grace and strength each step of the way. You are a man of deep strength and it has impacted my life in more ways than you know. Thanks for letting me see the "human" part of you...i think it has shaped me more than you realize. I will be praying for you that God will give you His strength and patient as you recover and get back to being Glenny. Whatever you do in this recovery process...make sure you don't get caught up in Clousing...it could be fatal for you at this time!hahaha!...love you friend...Tim Holdridge

So, I know this is late (in more ways than one), but I knew I wanted to actually talk to you on the phone yesterday, so that's why I didn't end up writing anything on here.

Dad, you have been such a great example to me throughout my life. You have taught me the importance of working hard no matter what the task may be. The way that you love my mother, Luke & Trish and Chail, and Abby, and myself is a challenge to me for when God gives me a family. Most importantly, your love for the Lord and trust in Him is a constant blessing to me. I love you Dad, Happy Thanksgiving.

Hi "Pastor" Glen! I am praying that God gives you a smooth transition as you leave the hospital tomorrow...hopefully! I'm actually at my parent's house right now and go back to VA tomorrow. I don't want to make you laugh too hard...so all I'll say is..." 1, 2, 3, you three be quiet!" --Remember that one? I was also remembering today all the great times we had with you and Ken on our retreats! Thanks for investing into all of us at HHBC. We were sooooo glad you came! Get well soon! You'll be in my prayers! Love you Jane too!!! Hope to see you all soon!
